Stephen Le

RN

Nurse coordinator

Stephen Le is a registered nurse who cares for patients with cancer, particularly those with blood cancers. His expertise includes bone marrow transplantation (BMT) and cellular therapies (transferring certain kinds of cells or modified cells into the body to treat disease). Over the years, he has guided patients and their families through treatments for a wide range of cancer types. He is committed to providing compassionate care that considers patients as individuals with unique emotional needs and personal histories that often include trauma. He strives to create a safe, supportive environment in which patients feel empowered throughout their treatment journeys.

Le is a passionate advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in health care. He has led various initiatives at UCSF to promote inclusive care practices and address health disparities, including founding the DEI committee of the inpatient hematology, BMT and cellular therapy unit. His lived experiences as queer and Vietnamese drive his advocacy for marginalized populations.

Le earned his bachelor's degree in nursing at Seattle University. Before coming to UCSF, he built a foundation in advanced cancer care working at the University of Washington Medical Center. He is an oncology certified nurse and also certified in crisis prevention intervention.
