Dr. George Sawaya is an obstetrician and gynecologist. He is the director of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center's cervical dysplasia clinic.

Sawaya's main research interest is in cervical cancer screening. He has specific interests in screening older women, issues of cost-effectiveness and cost-utility, and new approaches to population-based screening.

Sawaya earned his medical degree at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at UCSF, followed by a fellowship in the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics.

Sawaya is a lecturer as well as author or coauthor of book chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals.

    Loved Dr Sawaya! He was so kind and took the time to explain everything in detail, make sure I was comfortable and understood everything. I feel so fortunate to have scheduled my appointment with him and will definitely see him for any future needs if possible.

    Dr. Sawaya is an excellent communicator. He explained my condition and the procedure as well as short and long term recovery period clearly. While I can't ever describe a LEEP procedure as "pleasant" the degree to which the team put me at ease and described the process in real time was amazing.

    Dr Sawaya exemplifies the highest ideal of professionalism, concern, geniality, patience& respect. He clearly communicates his reasoning & treatment suggestions, confirms we're in accord & when I leave it is w the feeling of being "partnered". I know my med. Knowledge is respected & that f/u to diagnostic tests will be complete & timely. Any ? I have will be thoroughly addressed. I leave the appointment feeling nurtured & supported by him and all the staff.

    I was very impressed. The dr went out of his way to try to accommodate me even though he was running behind due to rain delays he would of fit me in that day for the procedure we were discussing If I really needed to. He was amazing all around.

    This was by far the greatest medical experience I've had in my life. Not the procedure, although I could tell the doctor was taking great care to make it as comfortable as possible. Just the general demeanor of Dr suwyaka and his explanation, asking for consent, and education. Blown away. Thank you!

    Excellent doctor. Presented me with all the info/answered my questions in a very neutral fashion (which I prefer), and really wanted me to understand what is going on. A very good doctor, and I can tell a good teacher as well.
